Spectacular properties, chocolate desserts to diet for, city happenings.
As we at Greeff Properties head into the second half of 2011, our collective head is still spinning following a spectacular start to the year, when we finally received the news that the globally respected Christie’s International Real Estate had selected Greeff Properties as an affiliated broker. Only property brokers who have a leading market share in high-end properties, and who meet strict standards of service excellence, while demonstrating success in handling distinctive properties, can become affiliated brokers and utilise the well known and highly respected Christie’s brand name. We at Greeff are justly pleased to be able to fly the Christie’s flag alongside that of our own.
Christie’s International Real Estate is a wholly owned subsidiary of Christie’s, the world’s oldest fine art auction house which was founded in 1766. Christie’s International Real Estate is a leading network of real estate brokers dedicated to the marketing and sale of exceptional Real Estate properties. The network comprises more than 800 real estate offices and nearly 35 000 sales associates in more than 45 countries. The Christie’s name is synonymous with quality, integrity and customer satisfaction, while the marketing efforts of Christie’s and Christie’s International Real Estate provide far-reaching exposure to a qualified audience of homeowners and homebuyers.
More importantly, the affiliation gives you, our client, massive marketing scope, Christie’s provides access to a worldwide audience of influential people. Properties are showcased in Christie’s International Real Estate magazine, published four times a year, and in custom designed property brochures, which are distributed in the magazine to a worldwide audience. Properties are also exposed on the Christie’s web site, which is now linked with the Greeff Properties website, so traffic is going both ways. Already the affiliation has brought in a number of mandates and buyers as well as some substantial sales. At the time of writing this, four southern suburbs properties sold by Greeff had fetched R35 million, R26.5 million, R15.5 million and R13.5 million respectively. Our April 2011 sales figures revealed an increase in R52 million over April 2010. So it really is all systems go!
We’ve welcomed some new agents into the Greeff family namely, Rob Anderson who is heading up the Oranjezicht and Higgovale areas, Patricio Pugnalin who is working on the suburbs of Tamboerskloof and Gardens and Angelo Carolisen who is running the Athlone, Landsdowne and Kenwyn areas. Anne and Dave Rattle, ex Hout Bay, are on board to run our Simon’s Town operation and the False Bay office. All bring with them a wealth of experience and contacts and we foresee even more spectacular future results.
The trend towards rentals is still quite robust and not surprisingly, our rental department is thriving – in fact it’s grown by a whopping 60 percent in the last two years. Rentals are still relatively affordable for many when compared to full bond repayments. We are anticipating healthier figures still with the recent appointment of Penelope Karsten who brings eight years of experience in the field to the Greeff rentals division.
As winter tightens its seasonal grip, on the property market it might seem that all the buyers have battened down their hatches and gone to ground, but experience shows us that this is usually merely a lull before a flurry of activity in spring. For the serious seller, it can be a good time to smarten things up in readiness for a surge in buyer interest. A lick of paint is a must and there’s a lot to be said for the spruced up kitchen and bathroom – and no one will argue that an extra bathroom goes a long way to sweetening a price to the seller’s advantage. Onward and upward!
